Might have just done a "Unsafe Speed" thingy whcih is where they can bust you for speeding no matter what your speed.

He said something about being written up for 60+ in a 45 somewhere before a turn.
I'll get some details...

I could've sworn the speed limit was 55 the whole way. I don't think they can give you a ticket for breaking the "recommended" corner speed, can they?

The mountain is a 55 the whole way. Sounds like a bogus ticket to me.

From what I've been told by my father-in-law who's retired SDPD, if you're breaking the suggested speed on the cautionary signs, it's a judgement call by the cop on weather you're driving an "unsafe speed for the conditions" or they can even hit you for reckless driving if they really think you're endangering other people on the road.

The cite was for 70+ (Radar) in a 40 turn. So not only over the posted limit but over the suggested limit for the turn in this case. Either way, screwed.

Does the ticket read 70 in a 55?

Does the ticket read 70 in a 55? My guess is check out the pic and go back a couple of turns. The ticket reads 70+ in a 40, as opposed to what the officer said he clocked him at 75. I couldn't get the CV as the tickets been tuned over to Mr Ticket. Maybe the officer is boosting the ticket speed because the car looks fancy? That'll just make it easier to beat in court if the facts are off.
