So I'm looking at getting a set of leather pants and wanted to know how it should fit as far as tightness and puck location. I've never fitted leather pants before (I don't hang out in those type of clubs, ya know?  Undecided ) so I'm looking for someone with experience in riding pants. Should the puck be on the knee when standing up straight or just below? Should the leg cover my boot like jeans do? I guess I'm looking to get as much info as anyone's willing to give up. I know I don't like super tight pants and don't want to have to powder my ass to get in/out of em and I want the puck to fit in the right area for possible twisty runs later on. Any help is much appreciated!  Grin

You want pants that fit snug but not so snug that they are uncomfortable. When standing up straight the puck will be a bit below your knee. Most pants have a big enough velcro patch that you can fine tune the placement of the puck once you ride and see where your wear pattern on the puck is. This placement is a little different for each person and their riding style. When trying on pants you will want to simulate your riding position to see how the pants fit so if ther eis a stool in the store take a seat on it and mimic your riding position. Also you are going to want to also get some underarmor pants/tights (or similar) to wear under your leathers. This lets the leather move a little bit as you move and keeps it from sticking to your skin giving you a more comfortable fit. I use under armor from www.zyflex.com

Your boots will fit over your leathers...you do want them tight...but not cutting off the circulation to your jewels Thumb   I used to have a pair of Joe Rockets before I bought my A*'s....I own a 1 piece suit and it fits me like a condom, which it should.  You don't want it baggy, but you do want room....make sure you buy perforated leathers, they give you a lot more flexibility.

Also try on different brands, they are all going to fit differently. Thumb

If you find a pair that fit almost perfectly, but you need them altered a bit, a place like A Walker Shoe can alter them for a good price.  I actually had a pair of Dainese pants that didn't have any velcro, and they added that as well as taking them out a little.

and if the zipper ont he pants doesn't match the jacket you have, they can fix that too (3/4 zipper is best of course)

Right on. Thanks for the advise. I'll be trying on a few this weekend to see what fits best. I will definitely get perforated leather to keep from getting too hot inside. The UnderArmor idea is perfect. I can order those from my company on the cheap. Thanks guys!  Thumb

What version of the UnderArmor shorts/pants/condom are the best to get? Give me a SKU or even a link to the type and I'll get a price.  Cool

Just the straight normal tights, not the cold versions although I guess you could use them in the winter under your leathers to help stay warmer.

I also use a shirt too but thats for 1 piece leathers as you probably wont have the same issue getting out of a 2 piece.

I was looking at these:

Since UnderArmor is in Maryland and its Friday, I'll have to give em a call on Monday but I'll see what price I can get and what the lead time will be. Apparently they have had trouble with supply for awhile. If its a decent price, I'd be happy to distribute some at MMBN.

Ok, finally got back some info from UnderArmor. I can get a metric shit-ton of em for $23.00 each and the best part is that they have them in stock. Retail goes for $39.99.  Woot! I'm going to put an order in for myself but if anyone else is interested, I'll gladly make a larger order. Just let me know and when I get em in, I'll bring them to Mira Mesa Bike Night.  Thumb

Nike has some stuff that's usually cheaper than UA stuff (as well as wally world having some other cheaper stuff - it's all pretty much the same).  $23 is a pretty good price tho

I have heard secondhand that Us doesn't consider motorcycling a "sport" and hence doesn't want to cater to us as a group, but.. dunno how much anyone cares

$23 for the shirt or pants?   That does sound like a really good price.

I didn't check on the shirt. It would probably be around the same price, If you're in the market for one, I'll look it up. As far as when I'm ordering, I'll wait a couple days and see who wants one and put my order in next week. Let me know numbers and I'll get the ball rolling.

Get em. Thats a pretty good deal and trust me- you go down you want leather. Even if theyre not 100 perfect for sportbike riding, for that price Id say theyre worth it, and you can jazz them up with a jacket.

And honestly, Ive had zero issues wearing leather even riding in Florida; it breathes a lot better than textile imo.
