I was talking to Mario and Chip about this last night at bike night. Found out about this company from another forum...They have inexpensive HID kits w/slim ballasts available:

DDM Tuning Motorcycle HID Conversion Kits

Another plus is that they appear to be based out of San Diego (there's a Huntington Beach office also):

We refer a lot of business to them.  We will be carrying Yana Shiki HID's in a couple of weeks here at CS.

I just put one of their HIDs on my bike. They're just a couple of blocks from my office. It's a great price for what you get. Super bright. I got the 6000K bulb.

Whatever helps you be seen out there.  Pictures?? Was it DIY or did you have them do it??

I'll take a pic when I get home. It's a DIY. Took me about an hour. Most of that is figuring out where to mount the ballast and cable routing, bundling, zip tying, etc... I just had to get all the body work off to get to the headlight housing but that's not a huge deal on my bike. I can have it naked in less than 10 minutes.

Also when they say not to touch the bulb, they mean it. The first bulb I got from them slipped out of my hand while I was installing it and I caught it by the glass part of the bulb. It turned yellow. Had to get a new bulb for it.

DUDE!!! Wash your hands after you pee!!!

You know what would be cool and they are right on the verge of mass producing - a laser light Hologram generator that makes it look like your driving a Mack Truck!!!

Seriously though a projector out the front playing your favorite movie clip on the pavement as you drive along.............nice esp. since mine is ATBN (Air Tight at Bike Night)!!!

Here's what it looks like. It's pretty close to that as far as color goes.

The first time I rode it at night with that in I got flashed by the first 3 cars and I didn't have the high beam on.  Thumb I think they were slightly surprised when I flashed em back.  DblBirds
