There's Dan the Tire Man down in Clairemont Mesa.  Charges $20.00 for front and rear off the bike...but you'll have to take care of disposing your tires yourself.

I change my own too, by hand.  Real bitch trying to get the slicks off my PM wheels, but still cheaper.  Big bike tires are easy.

I've ridden with plugs in tires. For teh most part there are no  issues. I'd just say keep it under 100 though.

I ran plugs in my offroad truck aired down to 5 PSI, that is a lot of flex.

I have yet to have a puncture on a bike, but I would plug it if I needed too.

I'm glad I read this thread because it reminded me about my tires. I've changed them myself before with just tire irons and 2x4's. That was a huge mistake. Anyone near by have a tire machine? I saw a video where you can make one, I might try that...

I ran a plug in a tire for about 1000 miles. Then I suddenly noticed I was about 5 psi low on air every time I'd check the tires before a ride. Not enough of a leak to even cause a bubble when I wet the plug, but enough to lose air over time.

When I work on stuff for people on the side I charge $100 an hour.  Figure 10 to 15 minutes a tire and that is about right.

You can buy tire irons or a tire change machine and do it yourself, which is what I normally do.

so far plugs holding well about 300 commuter miles and 2 trips to Palomar. for the 60.00 total to mount and balance a new Dunlop Q2 at this point I'm already ahead of the game.

I've used both types and they both have worked well. I do have a rubber plug kit here Mikey if you want to borrow it.

The only ones I've seen are the ones that come with the gluey black rubbery strip that you fold in half and insert into the hole with the hook ended needle with the t-handle on it and then cut off the excess. Those always worked great for me on cars but I've never tried it on a motorcycle.
